early in nhs retirement

Online early in nhs retirement resources and information

It would be great if we could all retire with a nice portfolio of savings and pension income, without having to worry about paying the bills most retired people pay.

Yet...many retirees are living out their retirement on the breadline without much hope for even going on holiday without being assisted by relatives or even handouts. Don't let yourself be one of them...it's never too late!

Title : Get a Life: You Don't Need a Million to Retire Well
Author : Ralph E. Warner
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : One of the best all round books on retirement planning!

As a Certified Financial Planner, I recommend this book to many of my clients who are seriously planning their retirements. Warner has done a great job putting things in the proper perspective with a book that is an "easy read". While adequate money is important to a satisfactory retirement (and helping clients build a satisfactory net worth is how I make my living), I do find, as has Warner, that there are more important things such as health, friends, and a purpose (i.e., reasons to get up in the morning) when it comes to planning out one's retirement. I frequently ask clients what they plan to do when they retire. When they say "go fishing" or "play golf", I then ask them what they plan to do the second week/month/year. And I keep asking the question until they realize that its a serious one. Warner takes it further with discussion and clear examples. In short, a must read for anyone approaching retirement.

Title : Brilliant Deductions
Author : Wade B. Cook
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Just one idea saved us thousands this year alone!

Although I found Mr. Cook's writing style a little hard to follow (he jumps from one idea to the next), this book is well worth a read just to harvest out any ideas that might work for your own situation. His suggestions about incorporating and income-splitting saved my familty at least $4,000 in income taxes this year alone. But, everyone's situation is different and readers need to do their own homework before blindly acting. Take Cook's ideas as just "brainstorming" sessions and then think for yourself. This reader certainly enjoys Wade Cook's "brainstorming" sessions.

Title : The New Golden Door to Retirement Living in Costa Rica
Author : Christopher Howard
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Great Book!

Hi, I am working at ILISA Language Institute in Costa Rica, San Jose and I just want to say that this book helps our student a lot by giving them helpful tips or by arrange their own travel in Costa Rica. Thanks!

Title : The Beardstown Ladies' Stitch-In-Time Guide to Growing Your Nest Egg: Step-By-Step Planning for a Comfortable Financial Future
Author : Robin Dellabough
Rating : 1 Stars out of 5.
Summary : What a JOKE!!!!

This group of ladies have been totally discredited, their track record has proven to be a total farce. (After the seld-described track record was audited, they in fact have underperformed the market.) When these ladies cannot even figure out that new investment funds should not be counted as return but as invested capital, how credible can the rest of their advice be???

How they can find a publisher to perpetrate this nonsense is beyond my comprehension!

Title : One World, Ready or Not
Author : Wil Greider
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : A bit lengthy, but great detail.

One World Ready Or Not by William Greider details one very important subject, which effects all of our lives. Greider goes into detail on the world economy, and how, "global capitalism" is destroying the world slowly, and unknown. Greider traves the world to interview hundreds of people, and ask them about his subject. Although Greider seems to streth the information out too much, he goes into great detail so that one will not be misinformed. Each chapter in his book shows a different world of economic problems. From China to South America he tells of each countries economic story. I would highly recomend this book for those interested in the details of global capitalism, but warn readers of its difficulty to understand some of his beliefs. I give this book 4 stars, the only drawback being Greiders ability to get to the point without writing too much.

Title : Rich Dad's Retire Young, Retire Rich: How to Get Rich and Stay Rich Forever! (Rich Dad's Advisors Series)
Author : Robert T. Kiyosaki
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : More great ideas, more great context - huge value for money

This fourth book in the main series follows through the logical progression from 'taking care of your business' to retiring and doing what you want to do full time. Some people in the UK may find Robert Kiyosaki's American enthusiasm and repetitive writing style a bit hard to take - just stick with it and realise that making money is something that Americans do better then us! Others may say that you 'can't do those things here' - may I suggest to them that they need new advisors as I have not had any problems in implementing these ideas. I would read 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' and 'Cashflow Quadrant' before this book - could be a bit much at once otherwise.

The big gain from this, as with all the books, is the sense of challenge and attitude that comes across. Combined with the specific ideas for action and areas to think about Robert is able to lead you towards acheiving your financial goals, whatever they are.

Retiring before 45 is a dream that most us share, but few think is possible. I would rate these four books as being of equal value in helping me to be on track to reach this goal (despite having started at 31 years old), as my MBA. The MBA tells me how, Rich Dad helps me think of why, when and what.

The true value of these books is really demonstrated by their life expectancy on my book shelf at home. I have leant a number of copies of Rich Dad Poor Dad to friends and family, none of which have ever been returned! Since then my sister is now starting her own company and writing a book and friends have made some very profitable moves into property investment. None of these people, including myself, talked about such things before reading Robert's books.

Buy this book. Read it. then hide it and re-read it every few months - if you don't you will probably find that it disappears and those close to you start to have more money in their pockets!

A real delight.

Title : How to Retire Rich
Author : James O'Shaughnessy
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Illuminating!!!

A must read for anyone who cares about their financial future. The cloud of confusion that shrouds Wall Street has been blown away. Finally, a simple, easy to understand investment guide that gives actionable advice. Forget about the 5,000 mutual funds that consistently underperform the market. Forget about this year's genius or this year's hot fund. Follow a discipline and stick to it through thick or thin. Thanks, O'Shaughnessy. This book summarizes everything I've learned about investing over the years, but, of course, not yet acted upon. That will change. ----Three things to count in life: death, taxes, and dismal stock market returns without an invesment strategy!----
