Title : One World, Ready or Not
Author : Wil Greider
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Excellent clarity for economist and layman alike
How refreshing it is that in a nation with a plethora of spin doctors we find a person who writes succinctly and without hyperebola about our current economic and political reality. While he does not give us any clear direction about what to do about unfettered global capitalism, he does give us access to information generally hidden by the media moguls about what has been happening in a seemingly irrational world. He does give us anecdotes to deregulation; but, I agree that they have little probability of happening.

Summary : An upbeat look at post career life
This book is an upbeat look at aspects of post-career life, of finding new interests and an informative and practical guide to leading lives that are longer and more rewarding totally based on your personal experiences. To believe that a curtain drops on life at age 60/65 leaving nothing to do but play golf makes no sense at all. Not only does that attitude fail to bring personal satisfaction it is inconsistent with recognized theories of human development. The book demonstrates practical methods for you specifically to avoid a damaging mind-set, details proven methods to adopt and nurture new attitudes, and specifically how to supplement your income based on your area of personal expertise - and new areas as well. Ways to make this a period of grace and growth rather than decline and decay.

Title : Roth to Riches: The Ordinary to Roth Ira Handbook
Author : John D. Bledsoe
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : An easy-to-read book on Roth IRAs that's also comprehensive.
This is the first consumer-oriented book published (July, 1997) about the Roth IRA. As it turns out, it is a superb effort and one that other authors will be hard pressed to match with future Roth IRA titles. The author obviously spent many months fine-tuning his work. As the editor of the Roth IRA Web Site, I read this book in well under two hours and found it to be a remarkably easy-to-read book. One doesn't expect books on topics such as Roth IRAs to be pleasant reads, but this book was both fun-to-read and informative at the same time! I also gave the book to several others to read (including one person who had no idea how IRAs worked) and they confirmed my judgement. This is a great book on both traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs.
From a technical viewpoint, the information presented appears to be quite accurate and comprehensive. Although the Roth IRA technical corrections were not yet signed into law when the book was published, the author was obviously quite familiar with the proposed changes and he does reference the more important provisions. (The last page of the book provides a form to send in for a free report on the final Roth regulations when available.)
The book is 198 pages (8˝" x 11" size) with the actual text running through page 90. Pages 91 through 121 are what the author calls Roth Conversion Advantage charts. Most of the rest of the book consists of a reprint of IRS Publication 590, the IRS explanation of IRAs. After you see the IRS explanation of how traditional IRAs work, you will like Roth IRAs even more!

Title : How to Retire Rich: Time-Tested Strategies to Beat the Market and Retire in Style
Author : James P. O'Shaughnessy
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : I am buying one of these books for each member of my family.
As an avid reader and a novice investor I could not put the book down. The information was clear and very understandable. I immediately went on line and was able to pull up the 50 stocks I will be using for Reasonable Runaways. My goal was to self manage my 401k. This has given me the tools to do so. I'm in it for the long term so will let you know in 25 years how the strategy worked. I feel strongly enough about the concept to share it with all my friends and family. Wouldn't it be fun to grow wealthy together???
I have also read "What Works on Wall Street". If you must chose between the two "How to Retire Rich" is the better book in my opinion. "What Works" does provide reinforcement of the ideas if that is important to you.
